Sustainable site development with certificate
Campus Klybeck stands for commitment to economic, social and ecological sustainability.
But what criteria are used to measure sustainability and who checks them?
Campus Klybeck is the first SNBS site
Campus Klybeck is part of a transformation site that has been pre-certified according to the ‘Swiss Sustainable Building Standard’ (SNBS). The Swiss Sustainable Building Standard for Sites, SNBS Site, is currently the only comprehensive and certifiable standard for sustainable sites in Switzerland.
With the successful completion of the first SNBS site pre-certification process in German-speaking Switzerland, Swiss Life has not only received a certificate, but has also laid a strategic foundation for sustainable site development. The integrated energy and supply concept of Climatch (part of Swiss Life Asset Managers), which will be a flagship project in terms of climate protection and innovation, forms an important basis for SNBS site certification.
The criteria
The SNBS criteria description divides the three areas of society, economy and environment into 12 topics, to which a total of 30 criteria are assigned. A site is assessed on the basis of these criteria. The criteria description defines the measurement parameters in detail and serves as a central working tool. Further information on the criteria description can be found here.
Guidelines for development
The pre-certification serves as a guideline and quality assurance for all project participants. The SNBS site standard can already be applied during development: Regular reviews based on clear and specific criteria enable the development team to identify any need for action in good time and make any necessary corrections.
This is the only way to ensure that the development meets the sustainability requirements.
«The certification underlines Swiss Life’s commitment to creating a new neighbourhood that is vibrant, attractive and diverse and a pleasure for the people who live and work there. Residences, businesses and offices should create an environment that revitalises each other. This will create an attractive, diverse mix.»
– Jürgen Friedrichs, Overall Project Manager Klybeck, Swiss Life.
